Clean Energy Powers

Clean Energy Powers US Operations

When Bystronic’s headquarters in Niederönz, Switzerland went solar, it set a standard. Now, that commitment has crossed the Atlantic. Our facility in Hoffman Estates, Illinois – just outside Chicago – has completed installation of a comprehensive solar array in partnership with Verde Solutions, bringing the same renewable energy approach to American operations.

The numbers tell part of the story: 2,708 solar modules now cover the building, with capacity to generate over 55.5 million kWh of clean energy over the next three decades. To put that in perspective, it’s equivalent to avoiding 39,334 metric tons of CO₂ emissions – roughly the same as taking 8,475 cars off the road for an entire year, or the carbon sequestration of nearly 654,000 tree seedlings grown to maturity. But the real significance goes beyond statistics.

What this represents is operational consistency across our global footprint. Whether a Bystronic machine is manufactured in Switzerland or supported from Illinois, it’s increasingly powered by the same renewable infrastructure. For our teams in Hoffman Estates, it’s also tangible proof that sustainability commitments aren’t reserved for headquarters alone – they’re embedded in how we operate, wherever we operate.
