The new photovoltaic system on the roof of Hall 1 provides us with green electricity for the production of laser cutting machines. At our headquarters in Niederönz, we are putting our ambitious sustainability strategy into practice.
Solar power for production and employees
Together with Helion, a sustainable energy specialist from Solothurn, Switzerland, we have installed a photovoltaic system on Production Hall 1, enabling us to generate our own “green” electricity. This electricity powers both our laser machine production and our fleet of electric vehicles. In addition, we have installed 15 charging stations for private e-vehicles and power outlets for the e-bikes of our staff. The next time you visit us in Niederönz, you can take the “E-Buxi” from the Herzogenbuchsee train station to Bystronic’s headquarters free of charge. And we offer the “Nez Rouge” non-profit organization access to our electric cars when they are not in use.
More than half a million kilowatt hours of electricity
We officially inaugurated the solar power system and the associated infrastructure, such as the charging stations for electric vehicles, on Thursday, May 12, 2022.
Guests from the worlds of politics and business took the opportunity to climb onto the roof of Hall 1 and learn about the photovoltaic system. The system will enable us to generate more than half a million kilowatt hours of electricity a year, which corresponds to roughly 15% of our consumption in Niederönz.
