Our employees around the globe are at the heart of our sustainability efforts. Striving for sustainability is not just a strategy but an intrinsic motivation that each of us must embrace. At Bystronic, we are proud of the many initiatives our employees are putting forward and implementing to improve sustainability for us, for our customers, and for our entire industry.
On the people side, we are setting goals to increase the diversity of our workforce, particularly the percentage of women in leadership positions. We are investing in training, talent development, and ISO certifications of plants to ensure safety and environmental progress in the workplace. We strive to deliver an industry-leading health and safety performance across all our sites.
Employee Engagement

Despite the challenges of the CORE restructuring program in 2024, our global employee survey demonstrated that Bystronic maintains strong fundamentals in engagement and culture. Employees continue to feel motivated, supported, and able to be themselves at work.
Team spirit, collaboration within local teams, and trust in immediate managers remain key strengths, alongside a strong client focus and respectful leadership. These results confirm that most employees clearly understand expectations and feel empowered in their daily work, even as overall outcomes show some decline compared to previous years.
Bystronic takes survey feedback seriously. Top management and senior leaders have reviewed key measures in dedicated workshops, and at team level, all managers have conducted follow-up discussions to agree on concrete improvement actions. Sustainable improvement depends on everyone's contribution – strengthening collaboration, transparency, and shared ownership across all levels.
Health & Safety

Workplace and psychological safety are key priorities for Bystronic. We are committed to achieving an industry-leading health and safety performance by 2030. Our comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety program focuses on ergonomics, safety equipment provision, and training in machinery use. Safety regulations apply to everyone on our premises – employees, customers, suppliers, and visitors.
In 2025, we made significant progress: our Total Recordable Injury Rate (TRI) improved to 1.15, down 28% from our 2021 baseline of 1.59. The number of recordable injuries in manufacturing sites decreased from 25 to 17, and we maintained zero fatalities across all operations.
Important steps such as ISO 45001 certification at our Niederönz headquarters are delivering results. We acknowledge further progress is required to reach our 2030 target of TRI ≤0.8, and we remain committed to continuous improvement.
| Metric | 2021 | 2023 | 2024 | 2025 | 2030 Target |
| TRI Rate | 1.59 | 1.94 | 1.59 | 1.15 | ≤0.8 |
| Recordable injuries | 31 | 35 | 25 | 17 | — |
| Fatalities | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Historically, the sheet metal industry has been male-dominated, and women are underrepresented in leadership positions. To counteract this, we have set clear goals and implemented targeted programs.
In 2025, a flatter post-restructuring organization that redefined management scope made us achieve 2030 diversity target ahead of schedule as we had to draw a line at N-2 management level. We are working on replacing management levels with job grades to better reflect the organization.
